I believe that authors use word play in their writing or movies to get across something. They often try to get across what they want to with out being harmful to anyone. They do it in a nice manner so no one gets mad. Also using word play in movies, the directors use word play to target a certain audiences. Like if its in a child’s movie, and they put something in it only the parents would understand and not the child then that’s word play.
